According to the research, one out of three women and one out of six men go to counseling due to low sexual desire. There are a variety of reason why people exist with low sex drives. Some people even report an aversion to sex all together. Could it be that some people who present with what they call an "aversion" to sex might really be dealing with hurts and scares from a sexual dysfuntional history? Maybe it is not so much an aversion to sex as it is a need to experience inner healing of the wounds that have been created due to unhealthy relationships. If these clients could somehow find healing for the past relational hurts that they have experienced, it is possible that their desire for sex could be reignited. Remember: healthy sexuality means mutual gratification among many other things. Let me know what you think?
in talking to all my women friends, most of them have low desire levels-if at all. i occasionaly feel that way and when i do i understand their feelings of exhaustion and duty to perform. i wonder if there isn't some wide sweeping chemical/hormonal issue that most people are dealing with steming from all the chemicals we intake in our food and air. i find it sad that most of my friends say they would rather never have sex again.

I'm a young lady whose husband has an aversion to sex. I actually agree with you- I believe his sexual past interferes with his present attitude towards the act. I struggle every day with feelings of inadequacy and unattractiveness due to our lack of physical intimacy.
I think the sexual aversion in men is a lot more common than most people think. In contrast to the Kelly Ann's comment, both I and all my female friends have a pretty high sex drive.
I think that a big disparity in sex-drives in for a husband and wife can wreak havoc on a marraige if the issue is not addressed. Sexual intimacy is just as important as emotional and spiritual intimacy.
My husband and I still have not found a solution to our problem.
